La crisis ambiental es una preocupación que viene afectando no sólo a Brasil y España, sino a nivel global. El planeta ha estado sintiendo las innumerables consecuencias y pidiendo ayuda. La crisis ambiental está relacionada con factores inconmensurables, como la pérdida de biodiversidad, la contaminación del aire, el agua y el suelo, el cambio climático, la desinformación (fake news), entre otros. El problema suele presentarse cuando los agentes son provocados, en la mayoría de los casos por el hombre, aumentando los impactos negativos sobre los ecosistemas. La investigación muestra la magnitud de las nuevas tecnologías y la comunicación, y cómo este tema se relaciona con el medio ambiente, sus consecuencias y la relación con el negacionismo climático. La investigación abarcó estudios de casos de desastres ambientales en Brasil y España. El objetivo del estudio es poner de relieve la gravedad y las consecuencias que la desinformación (fake news) provoca en el ámbito medioambiental. Como resultado, la investigación demostró que para que haya una democracia fortalecida en los países es necesario combatir la desinformación, a través de la educación ambiental y científica, y que la sociedad en su conjunto, los gobiernos estén comprometidos, así como las leyes que abordan la tema, con mayor eficiencia y compromiso de los legisladores con el medio ambiente.
